Let Go of the Past and Move Forward to Victory

A trapeze artist swings high in the air from one bar to another. He must let go of one bar before he can grab hold of the next one. The only way for him to move forward is to let go.
That’s what you must do in your life.
Let go of things in your past to move forward in life. Dwelling on the past and situations you can’t change will keep you from moving forward. Learn how to let go of defeat, failure and shame, and swing forward to victory!
Let Go of Defeat
Kenneth Copeland had to learn how to let go of defeat. Years ago, he was preaching at a tent meeting. It seemed like everything was going wrong. In those days, the services were recorded on cassette tape, duplicated and offered for sale.
He ran out of tapes. When the new box of tapes he had ordered was delivered, it had been run over by a truck, and the tapes were broken. Then torrential rain came, and the tent collapsed! It was a defeating moment, but rather than give up, Brother Copeland prayed for direction.
In himself, he didn’t know what to do, but he knew God had the answer to turn this defeat into victory! He sought God for the answer and determined to not quit!
Right away, God blessed him by sending a man who had the equipment to plant the tent stakes more firmly. This man ensured that the top of the tent didn’t sag with the weight of the rainwater. Then, more tapes were delivered, and the meeting finished successfully!
You may have faced possible defeats, such as the loss of a loved one or a job, financial troubles, or sickness. Whatever in your life has tried to defeat you, you can overcome it!
Ask God for the help or wisdom you need and watch Him go to work on your behalf. He said you could ask anything in the Name of Jesus and He will do it (John 14:14).
Let Go of Failure
Let go of failure because things in this life are temporary.
Failure happens to everyone at some time. Every person is operating from the knowledge or understanding they have at the present time. Paul wrote that we only know in part (1 Corinthians 13:9). We are limited to what we can see, but God’s perspective of every situation is perfect because He sees and knows everything.
What you might consider a failure and a full stop on progress today could be a success and a spark to move forward tomorrow. Let go of what happened and lean into what will be, by faith.
Some thought Jesus’ life was a failure when He died on the cross. But, three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, bringing eternal life, joy and peace to all who will receive it.
Something in your life may have been a failure, and if you have wronged someone or an organization, repent for your mistakes. Then shake yourself off and let go of failure.
God’s plan for you is success, and He will lead you to let go of failure and move forward!
Let Go of Shame
Holding onto shame will destroy you.
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, shame is 1: a painful emotion caused by consciousness of guilt, shortcoming, or impropriety; 2: a condition of humiliating disgrace or disrepute; 3: something that brings censure or reproach; also something to be regretted; pity.
Webster’s Dictionary also states, “The emotional response to shame is a painful feeling that can lead to self-consciousness and negative self-evaluation. It often makes individuals feel inadequate or unworthy, and it can lead to feelings of worthlessness or powerlessness.”
As you can see from this definition, shame will try to invade every aspect of your life. Shame tries to keep you from speaking out about the goodness of God. Shame discourages your soul and convinces you to hide your faith.
Take the spiritual authority given to you by God; and demand shame and all its tentacles to get out of your mind, your will and your emotions. You can be as bold as a lion! You can do it!
When shame goes, fill that hole with the Word of God; don’t allow your soul to stay empty. You can fill up by feeding on the Word from VICTORY Channel. Let go of shame and move forward!
Just like that trapeze artist, you can let go of the pain of the past, swing forward to the new life God promised, and experience victory!
