As Christian parents, we can become tempted to let worry and fear shake the trust we have in God. Whether it’s the evening news, social media rants or even the comments of a well-meaning neighbor, the enemy will use whatever he can to bring fear and doubt into our lives—especially regarding our young children. That’s why it’s so important to guard our thoughts and the words we speak and to pray protection over our children. We serve a mighty God who has given us His Word and the ability to speak health and safety over our children. Here are four verses to speak and pray over our children daily.

1. God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7, NLT).

This verse reminds us and our children that they can face any situation with courage, because God is on their side. This is also a great verse to keep in mind when we find ourselves becoming fearful about the everyday dangers our children may face out in the world.

2. You are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory (Psalm 32:7, NLT)

As we speak this over our children, we can remember that even if trouble rises up all around them, they can rest in the presence and safety of God. We can teach our children to call on His Name in times of trouble, and He will respond.

3. No weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken! (Isaiah 54:17, NLT)

We can claim this verse over our children to protect them from physical harm as well as emotional harm, such as the unkind words that children so often use against one another.

4. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe (Psalm 4:8, NLT)

Bedtime is a great time for this verse, both for real and imagined dangers. Children sometimes need extra reassurance against things that appear scary in the dark.

We can trust that God will bring His Word to pass. We can speak and pray protection over our children with these verses as we infuse our homes with protection, peace and grace.
