God’s Gift to You Started With a Baby

It’s Christmas—a season bright with decorations, gifts and joyful celebration. Yet beneath all the beauty and excitement lies a truth far greater than anything wrapped beneath a tree: God’s Gift to you began with a baby. Long before the world celebrated Christmas, heaven revealed the most extraordinary act of love. God’s most precious Christmas Gift did not arrive in fine packaging, but in swaddling clothes, resting in a manger in Bethlehem.
From the beginning, God’s plan for redemption was already set in motion. He knew mankind would fall, and He prepared the answer—a perfect, sinless Redeemer who would restore the fellowship lost in the Garden. That Redeemer entered the world as an infant. Jesus, the Son of God, was divinely qualified to fulfill every detail of God’s plan, so that through His finished work on the cross, humanity could once again walk in relationship with a loving Father.
That is why God’s Son had to be born into the earth. God’s Gift—Jesus—was given to every person, in every generation.
The Real First Day of Christmas
Jesus arrived perfect, untouched by the sin nature that marked every descendant of Adam. Born of the Holy Spirit, He carried a divine nature—the very nature He came to give us. On a quiet night in Bethlehem, heaven stepped into time. The virgin birth announced that this Child was unlike any other, because He came directly from God Himself.
The angel declared that Jesus was “the free gift of God” who brings “eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Hidden in that humble manger was the seed for the entire harvest of Redemption. Just as a seed holds within it everything necessary for a future harvest, Jesus carried the power to restore all humanity.
Everything God had promised across generations pointed to this moment. The long-awaited Messiah had come—not only to reveal God’s heart, but to reconnect mankind to His life.
As Jesus grew, His life made His purpose unmistakable. Scripture tells us He traveled from village to village, preaching, teaching and healing (see Matthew 4:23, NKJV). His words carried authority unlike anything people had ever heard. The crowds marveled, saying, “No man ever spoke like this Man!” (John 7:46, NKJV). He unveiled a Father who loved deeply, reached willingly and lifted people from death into life. Through Jesus, the world saw a God who desired closeness, not distance.
A Christmas Gift Unwrapped
Yet Jesus’ compassionate ministry was only part of His mission. The Cross stood at the center of God’s plan. Redemption required a sinless sacrifice, and Jesus alone qualified. “God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so we could be made right with God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
His sinless birth made His sin-bearing death possible. He carried every wrong, every failure and every burden. As Kenneth Copeland teaches, Jesus didn’t only die—He went into the depths of hell itself, taking the full penalty of sin so that you and I could walk free.
Then came the greatest display of God’s power the world will ever witness: Jesus rose again—alive forever and victorious. When you receive what Jesus has done, your spirit is instantly reborn. Fellowship with God is restored. The barrier of sin is removed, and you step into His family, His favor and His life.
This is why we celebrate Christmas. It marks the beginning of God’s Gift in the earth and the unveiling of God’s plan of Redemption. Your Christmas Gift from heaven—Jesus Himself—contains salvation, freedom and eternal life.
As you rejoice this season, remember: God’s Gift to You Started With a Baby, but it didn’t end there. John 3:16 reminds us, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son.” That Gift is still transforming lives today—and it has the power to transform yours.
