How many times have you heard this?

“This is Kenneth (and Gloria) Copeland reminding you…God loves you, and we love you and—

Jesus Is Lord!”

You’ll hear those three powerful words at the close of almost every Believer’s Voice of Victory broadcast, without fail. You also see them on almost anything to do with Kenneth Copeland Ministries, or anything to do with Brother Copeland, for that matter.

That’s because 55 years ago, Brother Copeland received a revelation from the Lord, a word from Scripture that changed his life forever and set the course for his ministry:

“No one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:3).

He was attending Oral Roberts University at the time and being mentored through Kenneth Hagin’s teaching ministry, listening to tapes, and attending meetings—all between studying, flying for Oral Roberts, and being a husband and father with children.

“It was the greatest thing I had ever heard in my life,” Brother Copeland recalls.

“One day, I drew a picture of the world, and I wrote Jesus Is LORD across the face of that little globe, then drew a little airplane up in the corner of it and said, ‘That’s me.’”

“Then, I said by the Spirit, ‘Jesus is LORD over the top of the world. Jesus is LORD over the bottom of the world. Jesus is LORD all the way around the middle of the world!’

“I started writing Jesus is LORD on my book covers. I wrote Jesus is LORD on everything. I had a little card made with Jesus Is LORD on it from that drawing and it became our logo.”

“Then I just started saying it—'Jesus is LORD!’

“I said it when I got up in the morning. I said it when I went to bed at night. I said it all the time, and said it over everything:

“‘Jesus is LORD over me…Jesus is LORD over my family…Jesus is LORD over my car…Jesus is LORD over this ministry…Jesus is LORD over Tulsa…Jesus is LORD over Oklahoma…Jesus is LORD over the United States of America…Jesus is LORD over this world!’

“I kept saying it and saying it—and I’ve said it ever since.”

The Bible makes it clear:

• Peter testified to the Jews, “Let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!” (Acts 2:36).
• Peter testified to the gentiles, “There is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all” (Acts 10:36).
• “[God] made you holy by means of Christ Jesus, just as he did for all people everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours” (1 Corinthians 1:2).
• There may be so-called gods both in heaven and on earth, and some people actually worship many gods and many lords. But for us, there is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live
• God elevated [Jesus] to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).

It’s wonderful to know on a personal level, that Jesus is Lord, but oftentimes—really, all the time—we need to remind ourselves, as well as everyone and everything around us (including both the seen and unseen realms of this world) that…

JESUS is Lord. JESUS is King. JESUS is Master of everything!

Declaring it, as Brother Copeland does (privately and publicly), helps bring us and our world into alignment, agreement and awareness with God’s Word (the Truth), allowing the Spirit of God and angels of heaven make it reality.
