Q: Is it wrong to spank a child?

A:

The Bible teaches parents to discipline their children in love. It also teaches that spanking can be done with the love of God, and when applied in that love, it is indeed an essential component of God’s system of discipline (Proverbs 13:24, 22:15, 23:12-14, 29:15-17).

Some parents might cringe at the thought of spanking their children. But when they are taught to discipline in love according to God’s Word, parents will find that His way is truly the best way. In this and other areas of child discipline, Chuck Sturgeon’s book entitled Train Up Your Child is highly recommended to parents by Kellie Copeland, who has taught on the subject of raising godly children. It can be found at your favorite online book retailer.
