Is there anything wrong with the New Age movement?
The New Age movement is one of many religions and belief systems in the world today. Here’s the problem—all religions and non-Christian belief systems teach that we have no need of a savior or that we can earn salvation by good works or attaining higher spiritual levels.

What is speaking in tongues?
God sent the Holy Spirit to give us power, transform us into effective witnesses and to put us in contact with the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 14:4, 2:10).Before Jesus went to the cross, He gave an invaluable promise to His disciples: “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.” (John 14:16).

Why doesn’t God kill Satan?
God is the creator of life. He is life. In Him no death or darkness exists. When God created Lucifer, He created an eternal being. God did not create him to die or cease to exist, but to live forever. Ezekiel 28 tells how Lucifer was created perfect and then iniquity was found in him (see also Isaiah 14:12-15).

Must I be water baptized to go to heaven?
No. As important as water baptism is, we know from multiple scriptures that it’s not what saves a person. What does save a person is the new birth resulting from faith in the shed blood of Jesus, confession of Him as Lord and believing that God raised Him from the dead (Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:22; Revelation 1:5; Romans 10:9-10).Some have thought Acts 2:38 tied water baptism to salvation. It says, “You must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Should Christians get involved with politics?
Not only does God intend for His people to be involved in the government, but He actually instituted a representative form of government. Exodus 18:21 says, “But select from all the people some capable, honest men who fear God and hate bribes. Appoint them as leaders over groups of one thousand, one hundred, fifty, and ten.”The higher powers of government are ordained of God, according to Romans 13. So how do we make sure those high offices are filled with godly men and women? By getting involved!

How do I know who to vote for?
Your vote is important because when you vote, your ballot becomes your seed. By seeking the direction of the Lord and voting in faith, you are sowing toward God’s will coming to pass in our nation. But how do you know who to vote for? How do you choose the right candidate? Start with your focus. Make sure it is on moral issues rather than on economic policies. When we understand that God—and not man—meets our needs (Philippians 4:19), it frees us to make decisions based solely on the direction of the Holy Spirit.

How do I deal with the death of a loved one who knew Jesus?
Losing a loved one can be tough, and it usually brings various challenges with it. But as tough as those times can be, Scripture promises us a way through. No matter what challenges we face, we can overcome them because we are in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 2:14).One thing that brings encouragement in those times is the assurance that when a loved one who knew Jesus goes to be with the Lord, the Bible offers us hope for the future. We may have a temporary sorrow, but nothing like that of those who have no hope, or who are burdened with guilt.

What are the consequences of backsliding?
The compassionate attitude of Father God toward one of His children who has gone astray is clearly revealed in Scripture. He declares in Jeremiah 3:14, “Return home, you wayward children,” says the Lord, “for I am your master. I will bring you back to the land of Israel—one from this town and two from that family—from wherever you are scattered.”

How can I break a smoking habit?
Trying to control the flesh is not something you were meant to do on your own. The Apostle Paul wrote of his frustrations: “I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me” (Romans 7:22-23). Be assured Jesus understands the pressures that you are faced with, and He desires to help you. Hebrews 4:15 says, “This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.”

Do I need to work if I’m living by faith?
Yes—because the Lord desires to bless the work of our hands (Deuteronomy 16:15, 24:19). Is work pleasant? Not always. But it is definitely not evil.So what is God’s perspective on work? First, we must realize that God creates all of us with a very special purpose and destiny. Jeremiah is a great example of this. God told him: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5).

Did Jesus need the Holy Spirit?
Nothing Jesus did in His earthly ministry was done by His own power. Everything was accomplished by the anointing of the Holy Spirit that was on Him. Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me” (Luke 4:18).This is a very important concept for Christians to understand. The fact that Jesus did all His earthly ministry by the anointing of the Holy Spirit means although Jesus is God, He lived in this earth as a man filled with the Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit who was at work in Jesus to heal, save and deliver men is in every believer.

Isn’t Christianity just another religion?
True Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship with God. Religion is any system of attitudes, beliefs or practices to honor or appease a god or supernatural force regarded as creator and governor of the universe. The number of religions and belief systems in the world today is in the thousands. God is not interested in religion. He is interested in our hearts. He wants to have a relationship with us because He loves us.

How can I be sure I’m a Christian?
The enemy tries to discourage or confuse all believers on this issue. Think about it: Anytime he can get believers to spend time wondering if they are saved is time he is keeping them from discovering how much authority this new life gives them over the kingdom of darkness. Here is some really good news—you can know without a doubt that you are born again!

Is it wrong to spank a child?
The Bible teaches parents to discipline their children in love. It also teaches that spanking can be done with the love of God, and when applied in that love, it is indeed an essential component of God’s system of discipline (Proverbs 13:24, 22:15, 23:12-14, 29:15-17).

Do all faiths lead to God?
The Bible is clear. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). This declaration by Jesus answers the question whether all faiths lead to God. Salvation can only be found in Jesus.

Should I tithe before or after taxes?
Proverbs 3:9 gives clear direction for tithing on gross income (before taxes) vs. tithing on the net (after taxes): “Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.” Tithes should be given from the first fruits—your income before any expenses or other obligations are taken out—the gross, not the net. (Also read Deuteronomy 26.)Brother Copeland tithes off the gross and considers the money that goes for taxes as a seed into the government. Since he started doing this, he has never failed to have more than enough to pay his taxes when they are due.

What’s the difference between Old and New Covenant salvation?
The difference—and it is major—is that under the Old Covenant, those who trusted God in regard to the Law could not be born again like we are under the New Covenant. Their new birth could not take place until Jesus died for their sins, was raised from the dead and glorified. (See John 7:37-39.)

Should supernatural signs guide me?
Events seemingly beyond natural explanation happen in all of our lives. But they are never God’s primary way of making His will known. He speaks through His Word and by His Spirit. That should always be the main focus of our attention. As we grow in understanding of God’s Word, the Bible assures us that we can follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, who is our teacher and guide (John 14:26). When we seek His guidance we can be sure He will lead us into all truth.
