What can I do to reduce stress in my life?

Work pressures. Family commitments. Church outreaches. All these things are well and good. They may even be God-ordained, but if you find yourself feeling the effects of too many commitments, then it’s time to de-stress your life. Jesus said in John 10:10, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Don’t let stress keep you from having an abundant life. Implement these five steps and get your life moving in the right direction!

Should Christians celebrate traditional holidays that have been commercialized?

Add to Favorites

For many years, holidays have been celebrated by the world and Christians alike. We know that God is actually the One who instituted the concept of holidays because He instructed Israel to have feasts and celebrations in the Old Testament. As Christians, it is beneficial for us to take the time to celebrate and appreciate all the good things God has done for us.

Why are verses missing in some Bibles?

Most of it has to do with what manuscripts and Scripture portions the translation was translated from. The King James Version and the New King James Version are translated from manuscripts dating from A.D. 500-1000. Most new translations are produced using a combination of more recent discoveries of earlier manuscripts and fragments dating from A.D. 200-400. It is thought that since these manuscripts are older, they should be more accurate.

Does the New Testament replace the Old Testament scriptures?

Add to Favorites

New Testament scriptures complete—not contradict—Old Testament scriptures. As such, the Old Testament must be interpreted in light of the New. Here is a threefold law of Bible interpretation:

1.  Scripture must be interpreted in the light of other scripture.
2.  The Old Testament must be interpreted in light of the New Testament. We are under a better covenant; established upon better promises (Hebrews 8:6).

Is listening to preaching as good as reading the Bible?

How do I saturate myself with the Word?

Total immersion requires an investment of time. If you’re looking for a big renewing of your mind, our suggestion is 30 days. You don’t necessarily need to take time off work (although that would be great), but you’ll need to adjust your schedule to make your focus the Word of God.

For example, if you usually go to lunch with friends during the workday, spend that time, instead, listening to or reading the Word of God. Carve out as much time as possible, and spend as many hours each day as you can in total immersion.
