When Kenneth and Gloria started their journey of faith they had questions too—lots of them! So, we've compiled the most frequently asked questions by people like you—people who earnestly desire to find God's answers to the practical, real-life challenges of everyday living. We have a new question every day, so check back often!

How does the Holy Spirit help me?

The Holy Spirit was sent to teach you all things and to lead and guide you into all truth (John 14:26, 16:12-15). In John 14:16-17, Jesus said: “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.”

Comforter means "Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby."

And the Holy Spirit empowers believers for the work of the ministry. When Jesus commissioned His disciples to, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone” (Mark 16:15), He did not send them empty-handed. By the indwelling Holy Spirit they went forth in power: “These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages...They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed” (verses 16-18).

To learn more about these and other ministries of the Holy Spirit to believers, study the following verses:

  • He gives us power—Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8
  • He helps us overcome sin—Galatians 5:16
  • He gives us comfort—John 14:16
  • He teaches us and brings things to our remembrance—John 14:26
  • He reveals mysteries—1 Corinthians 2:7-13
  • He helps us pray God’s will—Romans 8:26-27

If you have not received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit there is no need to wait. We encourage you today to ask the Father for this wonderful gift He is eager for you to receive (Luke 11:11-13). Just ask and by faith expect to receive: “Heavenly Father, Your Word says You will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask, so I am asking now. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit.” God loves you so much and wants you to have every good gift He has made available through your faith in Jesus!
