How do I overcome social anxiety?
Add to Favorites

Social Anxiety affects more than 40 million Americans. In fact, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America states that it is the No. 1 mental illness affecting American adults. And what is its root? Fear. It is a debilitating illness, but you can overcome it.

Start by getting scriptures that contradict what fear is saying to you. Be violent about driving out all fear and seize the promises of protection God has given you. As Jesus said, “The violent take it [the kingdom of God] by force” (Matthew 11:12)!

Here are a few scriptures to get you started: Psalm 91; Isaiah 40:29-31; 1 Peter 5:6-11; Jeremiah 29:11 and Philippians 4:6-7. Read these daily, print them out and post them where you can see them several times a day. Let the Word of God transform you.

Jesus said when two or three believers come together in His Name, He’s there (Matthew 18:20). And He’s the Great Physician! So find two or three trusted, faith-filled believers to stand in agreement with you for your healing. If don’t have those kind of believers in your life, then call KCM’s prayer line at 1-817-852-6000.

God desires for you to be healthy—spirit, mind and body. And through His Son, Jesus, He provided a way for you to receive your complete health. Jesus died for your complete healing. (Isaiah 53:5) Don’t let go of His promises to you. However long it takes, continue to press in for your healing. “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” (John 10:10).

Social anxiety, like all fear, is deadly. It opens the door to the devil. When you let it into your life, you’re saying to him, “Come on in!” Instead, rebuke Satan’s work. When anxious or sick feelings try to come up, speak to them. “By the stripes of Jesus, I am healed. I have the mind of Christ. Praise God!”

God desires for you to prosper even as your soul prospers. He wants you healed from social anxiety. Don’t give up or let up until your healing appears.
