God’s blueprint for marriage and sex is found in Genesis 2:24, where you’ll find His design is for man and woman to be joined together with no other option suggested. Throughout the Bible, you’ll find God’s praise of marriage between a man and a woman and only strong rebuke for homosexuality.
Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 refer to homosexuality as “detestable” and an “abomination.” And in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, we read that homosexuals, along with others who are unrighteous, will not inherit the kingdom of God. Romans 1:22-27 offers the most extensive reference against homosexuality:
“Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due” (NKJV).
Other passages to reference include Genesis 19, Romans 1:18-32, 1 Timothy 1:8-11 and Jude verse 7. That’s why it is so important to recognize that God never created anyone to be something He has already forbidden.
Though our culture today is increasingly being bombarded with messages designed to promote and portray homosexuality as normal, the Bible is clear. Homosexuality is rebellion against God’s sovereign design and a perversion of His perfect plan. As a believer, do not allow yourself to be conformed to the world’s way of thinking. God’s way is always true, always right and never-changing. Above all, it is always the best path for every person to find redemption, healing and a fulfilling life.
We, as Christians, don’t stand against people; we stand against sin. If you have a loved one who is living this lifestyle, don’t you give up on them. Keep praying, keep believing and keep sharing truth in love. Let genuine compassion and the Holy Spirit lead you.
