God wants your prayers answered so much that He even gives a formula in His Word. And like anything important to God, He doesn’t just share it once, but many times! Let’s take a look.

John 15:7 (NASB): “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

1 John 5:14-15 (KJV): “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

What we can discover from these verses is exactly how to pray:

  • Pray the Word of God
  • Pray in faith
  • Thank God in advance for the answer
  • Sow toward what you’re believing for (Luke 6:38).

Spending time with God will help you to know His will and pray with accuracy every time. When we pray whatever pops into our heads, it’s kind of like shooting an arrow at random. But when we pray the Word of God, we hit the bull’s-eye every time!

Praying in the spirit (in other tongues) is another way to be certain that we are praying according to the will of God (Romans 8:26-27). This is one of the ministries of the Holy Spirit available for our benefit every day. If you haven’t received the Holy Spirit, ask the heavenly Father to give you this wonderful gift. Don’t let circumstances shake your faith. As you spend time with Jesus, study the Word, pray accurately and pray in the Holy Spirit, God will show Himself strong on your behalf through answered prayer.
