When you stay connected to God–closely united with your heavenly Father–all the power of heaven is at your disposal.

Think about that for a moment.

Think how wonderful it would be to have such harmony with God that you knew what He wanted you to do and your prayers were answered every time.

According to Jesus, that kind of prayer power is available to every believer. It’s available to you and to me…if we will make our union with God the most important thing in our lives. Here are three ways you can stay connected to God… every day… all the time.

Stay Connected to God by Stopping All Compromise

Refuse to allow the things of the world–material possessions, career position, sinful pursuits, ungodly relationships or social standing–to eat away at your time with God. Get His Word into your heart so deeply that no one else’s opinion is important.

Stay Connected to God by Praying

It’s time to talk directly to God. Instead of relying on anyone else to tell you what God wants for your life, start a direct conversation with Him. Tell Him what is on your mind. Tell Him your concerns. Ask for what you need and even what you want. Pray for the needs of others. And, believe that what you ask will be answered (Matthew 21:22). If you need to learn more about prayer, check out Kenneth Copeland’s series on prayer in Believers’ Academy.

Stay Connected to God by Accepting Jesus’ Love

John 14:21 says, “Whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him.” You don’t have to be shy about your relationship with the Father. You can be confident of God’s love for you and His desire to bless you.

Rufus Moseley, a great man of God who went to heaven some years ago, once said, “Life in Jesus is gloriously easy. It has one responsibility: the responsibility of remaining in union. If you stay in union with Him, He’ll take care of everything else.”

When you incorporate these steps into your life, staying connected to God is delightfully simple. You’re able to keep that vital connection and trust Him to take care of everything else.

So many born-again believers miss out on the world-overcoming victory that’s theirs in Christ Jesus. They keep finding themselves “under” the circumstances instead of “on top,” and they can’t figure out why. They’ve never understood a foundational truth about living the successful Christian life. They’ve never understood why it is so important to meditate on, or ponder and contemplate, The WORD of God.

Proverbs 4:20-22 says, “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”

Notice that according to those verses, when you “attend” to God’s words they become “sayings.” The Scriptures start talking to you. The Holy Spirit speaks them to you on the inside so you can not only see but hear the thoughts of God.

If you’ll make the decision to take those thoughts by saying them on purpose over and over again, eventually you’ll catch yourself saying them without having to decide to do it. When that happens, your thinking in that area will have been converted. God’s thoughts will have become your own.

Suddenly, you will see something entirely different than the world sees. While they see drought, you see rivers. While they look at famine, you see feast. While they look at financial collapse, you see the riches of THE BLESSING.

I’m not saying all your circumstances will change overnight. It often takes time for the manifestation of THE BLESSING to become visible in this natural realm. But you can still “see” it–because you don’t really see with your physical eyes. I don’t either. You see with your mind. Your brain collects information and turns it into images in your soul. Then you interpret those images and decide what to do with them.

I have a very good friend who proves that point every day. A Partner with this ministry, he owns a gun store. He does not have sight in his natural eyes. One of his customers told me he bought guns from him for four years without noticing anything unusual about him.

“I’d tell him which gun I wanted and he’d go over to the case and get it with no problem,” he said. “He’d clear it, break it down, whatever he needed to do, and hand it to me. I’d stand there talking to him and looking him right in the face with no idea he was blind.”

Amazing as it seems, the man also trains military personnel. According to his staff, if you’re his enemy and you don’t want him to shoot you, you’d better be real quiet. His ears catch sounds yours don’t. He can hear you breathe from across the room–and if he hears you, he can shoot you.

Can that man see?

Absolutely. He sees with his hands. He sees with his ears. He sees images on the inside of him the same as you and I do. His eyes don’t yet transfer light from his eyes to his brain, but that’s changing. He’s attending to The WORD. He’s fixing his spiritual gaze on his miracle-working God.

You and I can do the same thing. Instead of looking at the circumstances around us, we can focus on The WORD of God. Instead of meditating on what the world says, we can spend our time meditating on what God says. As we do, The WORD will get on the inside of us and begin to change our thoughts, our health and our reality!

One of the biggest questions pastors and ministers are asked is, “How can I know God’s calling for my life?” Believers spend a lot of time and energy questioning this. But the answer to the question is the same no matter what your giftings and talents are: You are called to be a blessing.

Discover God’s Calling for Your Life by Discovering THE Calling

Actually, the only reason the Body of Christ is still physically present on planet earth right now is for this very reason. We’re members of His army and what’s our calling? We’re on a mission to exercise authority over the powers of darkness, spread the light of the gospel, and free a lost world from the devil’s grasp.

We’re not here to do our own will or get caught up in the world’s system. We’re here to carry out the commission of our Lord and Savior; and we can be confident that what He commissions, He provides for, not according to the meager resources of this world economy, but according to His riches in glory!

Discover God’s Calling When You Renew Your Mind

The more you renew your mind to this reality, the more you’ll be able to live it out from day to day. How far can you go? How completely can you convert your way of thinking, leaving behind the old mind-sets of this world so that you can really live like citizens of heaven on earth?

You can get a sense of what’s possible from looking at what the devil has accomplished on the opposite side. After all, he can’t create anything. All he can do is pervert things that already exist. So it’s fair to say that if he can do something in the spirit, soul and body of an unsaved person, then God can do something much greater in you.

I thought about this recently when I heard a statement that was made by the perpetrator of a mass shooting. He said that while he was killing people, he actually thought he was playing a video game. It wasn’t until after the victims were dead that he realized what was happening was actually real.

How did this young man end up so deceived?

He focused on violent video games until he got good at them. He played them over and over until he could do it without thinking about it. He fixed his mind on them until he became a part of them, and they became his reality.

That’s a tragic thing…but here’s the flip side of it. The devil doesn’t have anything new. His stuff is just a low-grade counterfeit of the system God has already designed. So if he can convince that boy he was in a video game–which is a lie–then how much more can the Holy Spirit empower you to renew your mind with the Word?

You have the real thing working in you! Instead of being conformed to this world, you can be transformed by the renewing of your mind to the point where you can begin to think and talk and function like you’re sitting with Christ on the throne of grace. Imagine the difference you could make in the world if you were to think and talk and function that way. Imagine the lives that you could touch. Imagine the souls that you could help win. Imagine the nations that you could change.

Discover God’s Calling by the Holy Spirit’s Leading

Once you begin to operate like that–in that kind of reality, with that kind of mind-set–then it’s just a matter of asking the Holy Spirit for a vision of how to carry out that calling. He might lead you into any number of jobs or industries, but your calling will be the same–to be a blessing to others and help draw the lost into a covenant relationship with their heavenly Father.

So don’t waste your energy or time stumbling around hoping to discover your calling. Get busy fulfilling THE calling of blessing the world and leading them to the truth. There’s no higher calling and no greater fulfillment. So get busy!

We often don’t know in advance what great blessings are on the other side of our obedience to the Lord. We don’t know exactly what wonderful things He has in store for us until we step out by faith and do what He says. What we do know, however, is this: God has a plan for every one of us. It’s a great plan! It includes prosperity, healing, peace, well-being and everything else we need to live a satisfying life. If you are wondering if THE BLESSING of God is really for you, then I’ve got good news for you!

God’s BLESSING in the Garden of Eden

From Genesis to Revelation God’s plan has been clear–to bless His people in every way. That’s why, in the Garden of Eden, God provided Adam and Eve with everything good and nothing bad. They had plenty of food, perfect weather and lots of gold. They were BLESSED!

Of course, they messed things up pretty quickly. Disconnecting from THE BLESSING through disobedience, they brought the curse on all mankind. But God refused to leave things that way.

God’s BLESSING Promised to Abraham

If you want to know what THE BLESSING of God includes, read Deuteronomy 28. That’s where God outlined THE BLESSING and the curse for His people. And to experience His BLESSING, you only needed to do one thing: “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world” (Deuteronomy 28:1). Just read what God has promised to you as one of His children.

God’s BLESSING Through Jesus

God sent Jesus to redeem us from the curse and restore THE BLESSING (Galatians 3:13-14). He sent us a Savior so we can all live in the fulfillment of scriptures like Psalm 91:16 where God says, “With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.”

Satisfied in every area of life! That’s what the Lord wants you to be. But what connects you to that satisfaction is faith. Without it, some things might work out for you, but there will always be problems you won’t know how to solve. Bad things will happen, and you won’t know what to do about them. You won’t have an answer.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that when you’re connected, bad things won’t ever happen in your life. Sometimes they might. But when they do, you’ll have an answer for them. You’ll be able to change them with the Word of God.

Don’t doubt that THE BLESSING of God is for you. Through Jesus, you’ve been redeemed from the curse. THE BLESSING that God promised to His people is yours too, so no matter what happens in this crazy world, you can live in THE BLESSING of God.

Relationships are important to God. In fact, in the Garden of Eden, one of the first things God did was create a relationship for Adam. He gave him Eve. But as Adam soon discovered, relationships aren’t always easy. If you have asked the Lord to help your relationships–with a spouse, friends, parents, co-workers, whomever–then you are in good hands. Here are five principles for improving the relationships in your life:

Examine Your Relationships

It’s one thing to ask God to help a relationship; it’s another to admit that the relationship isn’t a healthy one. If you need help with your marriage, visit the article Lord, Help My Marriage, but if you are dealing with other relationships that are unhealthy, then prayerfully consider whether or not you need to continue with them or at least keep healthy boundaries within them (2 Corinthians 6:14).

Trust God for Your Relationships

Decide to trust God and to trust His ways regarding your relationships. Begin studying His Word and looking for examples of good relationships within it. Look at David and Jonathan, Paul and Silas, Naomi and Ruth. These examples can show you what strong, supportive relationships look like and how these people handled adversity in faith.

Speak the Word Over Your Relationships

Begin confessing scriptures over your life and your relationships. For example, you may say, “Lord, I thank You that I have the mind of Christ and walk with wise friends. I thank You that I am a friend who loves at all time, and my friends and I sharpen each other in You” (1 Corinthians 2:16; Proverbs 13:20, 17:17, 27:17).

Get a Second Opinion on Your Relationship

If your relationship continues to challenge and frustrate you, then you may need a second opinion or someone to stand with you (Proverbs 11:14). Talk to your pastor, a trusted mentor or a friend. You can even call KCM’s Prayer Line at 1-817-852-6000 for prayer.

Develop Relationships With Spirit-Led Believers

Begin seeking out positive, healthy relationships with other Spirit-led believers. Begin attending small groups at your local church. Many churches have groups based on age or interests. Or look for volunteer outreaches within your community. You can also connect with other KCM Partners at KCM’s Believers’ Academy.

Godly relationships are important to your spiritual and mental health. As you examine your relationships, trust God with them, speak the Word over them, get wise counsel about them and even seek out new, positive relationships, God will bless your efforts. God desires you to prosper in every area of life and that includes your relationships with your family and friends!

Leave it to Jesus to answer with four words the questions that all the psychologists and marriage experts in the world can’t answer with a million. Leave it to Him to solve today’s complex problems with a scripture so simple even a child can understand it, and so broad it covers every possible situation, including believing for your unsaved spouse’s salvation–“Have faith in God” (Mark 11:22).

The person who bases his life on faith in God never has to change his lifestyle to suit the times or even to have a successful marriage. Faith in God never changes because God never changes. He’s the same yesterday, today and forever! Here are three keys to believing for your unsaved spouse.

1. Stand for Your Unsaved Spouse by Trusting in the Word

If you are trusting God to draw your loved one to a saving knowledge of Him, then first put your faith in His WORD. Understand that to have faith in God is to have faith in His WORD. The two can’t be separated–they are one, which means you need to discover what The WORD says and then believe it. For instance, it says:

  • And when that time comes, you will ask nothing of Me [you will need to ask Me no questions]. I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that My Father will grant you whatever you ask in My Name [as presenting all that I Am] (John 16:23, AMPC).
  • For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it] (Mark 11:24, AMPC).

2. Stand for Your Unsaved Spouse by Trusting in God’s Love

Since “God is love,” to have faith in God, you must have faith in love. You must believe in the love God has for you and your spouse. It’s the same love that draws every believer to Him (John 6:44). No one is beyond God’s love. The LORD wants your spouse saved even more than you do–trust that.

And as you trust in God’s love for your spouse, commit to extend God’s love to your spouse. Love him (or her) without nagging or complaining about their lack of faith. Instead, show them the fruit of the spirit–“love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23). Then have confidence that when you keep His command to “love one another,” you’ll be blessed as a result (1 John 4:8, 11).

3. Stand for Your Unsaved Spouse by Having Faith in God’s Light

The Bible not only says, “God is love,” it also says, “God is light” (1 John 1:5). Therefore, having faith in God is having faith in light. That means you believe:

  • “There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known” (Luke 12:2).
  • “The Spirit of truth…will guide [your spouse] into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come” (John 16:13).

When you have faith in light, you can rest assured that everything you need to know to triumph in your marriage will be revealed to you. You can be confident that the devil can’t hide anything from you to keep you or your spouse in bondage and under the curse. You know that because you’re a child of the light, the wisdom of God is inside you.

Build your faith in the light by taking His words and saying, “I believe hidden things will be revealed to me and my spouse. I believe the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth and shows us things to come. We walk in the light and don’t stumble over anything.”

Faith comes by hearing the WORD, so as those words come out of your mouth and into your ears and your mind, they’ll produce faith in your heart.

Put these steps to work–trust in God, His WORD, His Love and His Light. If you need help finding scriptures for your situation, then read the article Scriptures to Stand on for a Spouse’s Salvation. Continue to speak those scriptures over yourself and your spouse. Salvation is ultimately each individual’s decision before God, but with faith you can make sure the blinders come off your spouse so they can have their eyes opened to the same Truth you’ve received!

Is fear contaminating your faith? Ask yourself these questions: Do you worry about the safety of your children each time they walk out the door? Do you find yourself pacing if your spouse is 15 minutes late for dinner? Do you get stressed every time newscasters are proclaiming doom and gloom for the economic markets? Do you fear each time a storm comes through your state? If so, then it’s time for you to take a stand against worry. Here are 10 scriptures from the New Living Translation to help you stand strong against worry and fear:

  1. 1 John 4:18: Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
  2. 1 Peter 5:7: Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
  3. Philippians 4:6-7: Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
  4. Matthew 6:25-34: That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life–whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear… These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need…
  5. John 14:27: I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
  6. Romans 8:28: And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
  7. Psalm 37:3: Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
  8. Philippians 4:19: And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
  9. Luke 1:74-75: We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live.
  10. Psalm 103:1-5: Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

If you have allowed worry to creep into your life, then take a stand against it. Read these scriptures. Print them out and post them where you can see them every day, throughout your day. Don’t let fear rob you of your faith in God and His WORD; take a stand against it and live in confidence and godly strength!

by Kenneth Copeland

For years, Spirit-filled Christians have gone to great lengths to convince Jesus to manifest Himself in their lives. They’ve cried and begged. They’ve prayed and fasted. They’ve sung Hymn No. 247 countless times. They’ve jerked and kicked and run the aisles of the church.

For a long time I was right in the middle of it all. So I can tell you firsthand what happened as a result.

Nothing.

None of that stuff ever did any good because Jesus never told us to do it. He never said, “I’ll manifest Myself to those who cry the loudest or fast the longest.” What He said was this: “Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” (John 14:21).

Those verses make it plain that Jesus desires to reveal Himself to us. He’s not withholding Himself in any way. He’s made Himself totally available. So, if we’re not enjoying His manifested presence and power in our lives, there can only be one reason: We’re not doing what He said. We’re not keeping His commandments.

Why aren’t we?

For one thing, a lot of Christians aren’t completely clear about what commandments they need to keep. The only ones they know much about are the 10 listed in the Old Testament. But Jesus had much more than that in mind. When He told us to keep His commandments, He was talking about everything He tells us to do in the written WORD or by direction of the Holy Spirit–including what He said in John 13:34: “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.”

That particular command is especially vital. It’s at the heart of all Jesus said and did because He is love. Therefore, to keep His commandments is to live in manifested love.

“Oh, Brother Copeland, that sounds hard! I couldn’t possibly do it!”

Yes, you can. I can too, and here’s why: God has called, equipped and empowered us to do it. He’s put His own love on the inside of us (John 17:23). He’s shed His love abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5).

God never planned for us to try to keep any of His commandments on our own. He intends to keep them for us, with us and through us by the power of His Spirit dwelling in us. And He is well able to do it! He is able to fulfill the command of love through us just like He did through Jesus.

We don’t have to cry and beg Jesus to manifest Himself to us and through us. That’s what He came to do. It’s why we’re here. So let’s get busy fulfilling our purpose. Let’s keep His commandments and commit ourselves to stay in love with one another no matter what. Let’s walk in manifested love and bring THE BLESSING to a planet full of people who are in desperate need of it. Then we will all see Jesus.

Many Christians spend a lot of time worrying about their lives. They worry about their jobs, their families, their children, their homes, their schedules, the weather, traffic and more. The good news is Jesus died to free you from worry. It doesn’t have to exist in your life. Look at these five ways to get rid of worry.

Get Rid of Worry by Recognizing What It Is

Worry is just another word for fear, and fear has contaminated the faith of far too many believers. Fear has robbed them of their victory and deceived them into accepting defeat. Fear has deprived them of the great adventure of the Christian life. As born-again children of God, we don’t have any business living like that! We should be the most outrageously daring people the earth has ever seen. We ought to be doing the impossible by faith every day, turning the world upside down for Jesus and having the time of our lives!

Get Rid of Worry by Understanding Who You Are

For you to get rid of worry, it is absolutely essential that you understand who you are. You are not just an old sinner saved by grace. Your old man died the death of the Cross. The sin nature you inherited from Adam was crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20). It is dead and gone! Now you are a child of the living God. You have Jesus’ own nature and life within you.

Get Rid of Worry by Going to the Fountain

Where there was once a fountain of fear on the inside of you, there is now a fountain of faith. The only way the enemy can get fear into you is by feeding it to your intellect. He must try to get it into your soul (your mind, will and emotions) by getting you to receive and act on it. Instead feed on the WORD. Check out the list of fear-busting scriptures to help you Stand Strong Against Worry.

Get Rid of Worry by Walking in Love

First John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear….” The words translated cast out there literally mean “to flush out.” When you begin to exercise the love of God, and the tide of love begins to rise, it just doesn’t leave any place for fear to reside. And since faith works by love, the higher the tide of love flows, the stronger your faith becomes. Eventually, you get to the place where all the fear is flushed away!

Get Rid of Worry by Dealing With It Immediately

Too many believers have let worry and fear creep into their lives a little at a time, and over the years, they’ve gotten used to it. Fear has become such a normal part of life that they’re blind to it. As a result, they don’t do what’s necessary to flush it out with the WORD of God.

Every time you notice a knot of worry in your stomach, it ought to be like a flashing red light to you. The moment you catch yourself thinking a fearful or worried thought, you should stop right then and deal with it by saying, “Jesus, I love You and I know You love me too much to let bad things overwhelm my life and my family. Heavenly Father, John 17:23 says You love me just as much as You do Jesus Himself. And I receive that love right now. I know Your love has been shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost and I thank You for it.”

Don’t do it just once or twice either. Do it every time you begin to sense that torment. The moment it arises, do it immediately–immediately!

Keep that up and you will get rid of worry. You’ll begin to live the worry-free lifestyle Jesus died and rose again to give you. Your life will truly become the great adventure God intended it to be!

God wants us to be honorable to one another. For us to dishonor one another affects everyone involved. In Romans 12:10 it says, “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.” We shouldn’t love one another based on whether or not we are lovable. We should love each other because we are born of God.

God has honored us with His life, His Name and His Spirit. How can we do any less? God is the only One who has the right to judge. We do not. It doesn’t matter if we think the other person is right or wrong. It’s none of our business. Whose business is it? God’s.

It really makes no difference how we see one another’s conduct–whether we think it’s right or wrong. We need to deal with our own conduct, which is regulated by our relationship with God. James 3:16 says where strife is there is confusion and every evil work. Allowing strife to go unchecked or entering into it opens the door to every evil work. Harsh words and criticism are certainly not edifying and gracious. Ephesians 5:4 says, “No course, stupid, or flippant talk; these things are out of place; you should rather be thanking God.” You can’t speak harshly and thank God at the same time.

You can’t criticize those around you if you have a thankful attitude about them. When someone crosses you, instead of letting your mouth be filled with verbal abuse, fill it with praise to God. Ask the Lord to show you how to honor others and live honorably. As you develop and honor God in your life, it begins to work in your heart, in your career and in your relationships. You do your part and God does His part. When an unlovely person tries to provoke you into strife, remember: You are not provoked. Instead of retaliating, let love come out of your mouth.

The Bible is full of scriptures about your financial increase, wealth and prosperity. If you’re praying for a financial breakthrough, there’s no better place to turn than to God’s wisdom, spelled out in His Word. God’s Word is life–life to our bodies, life to our spirit, life to our relationships and life to our finances.

As believers, as we read, memorize and think about God’s Word concerning money, we’ll find every answer we need within its pages. Pray these 18 Bible verses about wealth and prosperity, as you believe God for the breakthrough you need to gain victory–once and for all–in your finances.

On Debt

  • Proverbs 22:7: Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.
  • Romans 13:8: Owe nothing to anyone–except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law

On Financial Responsibility

  • 1 Timothy 5:8: But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.
  • Luke 16:11: And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?
  • Proverbs 13:22: Good people leave an inheritance to their grandchildren, but the sinner’s wealth passes to the godly.
  • Proverbs 21:20: The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get.

On Giving

  • Luke 6:38: Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full–pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.
  • Proverbs 3:9-10: Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.
  • Malachi 3:8-10: “Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! “But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’ “You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!”
  • Deuteronomy 16:17: All must give as they are able, according to the blessings given to them by the Lord your God.
  • Luke 21:1-4: While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins. “I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”

On Greed

  • 1 Timothy 6:10-11: For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.  But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.
  • Hebrews 13:5: Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
  • Luke 12:15: Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

On God’s Provision

  • Philippians 4:19: And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
  • Proverbs 10:22: The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
  • 2 Corinthians 9:8: And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
  • Jeremiah 17:7-8: But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

Wouldn’t it be great if our faith always produced instantly visible results? Wouldn’t it be fun if we could believe for our dream house today…and start moving into it tomorrow? Or believe for healing and see every symptom of sickness disappear immediately every time? Sometimes even something as seemingly simple as a new–or different–car can seem like a tough faith project.

Believing for things like a new car reminds me of my own journey of learning to walk by faith. Ken was a 30-year-old freshman at Oral Roberts University. I was staying at home with our two small children, listening to tapes about faith by Kenneth E. Hagin. One day I was typing some notes I’d written about the power of faith-filled words, and I heard the Spirit of the Lord say this to me:

In consistency lies the power.

That one phrase changed my life!

It helped me realize I can’t move mountains by just saying faith words now and then. It’s what I say with patient consistency–all the time, over time–that brings results. That meant all negative, doubt-filled, unbelieving words would have to go! So I went to work right away getting those words out of my vocabulary. Ken was doing the same thing.

First, we focused on getting poverty out of our mouths. We began to speak words of faith (and only faith) to the mountain of debt we were facing. In 11 months the debt that had seemed so staggering a year earlier was completely paid off!

We needed a car at that time, too, so we did the same thing where that was concerned. We released our faith in God’s promise to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Then we prayed and said, “We believe we receive a car.”

Once again, we saw no immediate result. We didn’t find a new automobile sitting in our driveway the next morning. But we just kept speaking faith. We talked with such confidence that even our son, John, who was just a toddler at the time, got caught up in the excitement. One day when Ken was praising God for our new car, John said, “Come on, Daddy! Let’s go get it!”

A few months later, we did!

Over time, we learned to receive everything that way–a new car, healing, finances, everything. If you are in need of a new–or newer car–begin to put your faith muscles to work. Begin proclaiming–out loud–Philippians 4:19 over your situation. And if you need help getting your finances in order, read the article, “Lord, Help My Finances!” Let this be the beginning of a focused life of faith where you learn to apply God’s Word to every area of life!

“Lord, help my finances!”

If you are like 40% of American families, who spend more than they earn, you have probably spoken those words. And Americans aren’t alone. Consider this:

  • The average British household has £5,978 of personal debt.
  • More than 8 million South African households struggle to make their monthly debt payments.
  • For every $1 the average Canadian household earns, it owes $1.65.

The statistics are staggering, but there is freedom. You can have a debt-free life. Begin putting into practice these steps for living debt free. The Lord will help your finances as you begin putting action to your faith.

The Lord Will Help Your Finances as You Commit to Be Debt Free

Romans 13:8 says, “Owe nothing to anyone–except for your obligation to love one another.” Make the decision that you will no longer use debt to buy anything. Cut up your credit cards and shred new loan applications. Order your free credit report and cancel any open, but empty, credit card accounts.

The Lord Will Help Your Finances as You Stir Up Your Faith Against Debt

Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Stir up your faith by studying the Word. Read Scriptures to Stand Against Debt to get you started. Stop listening to the doom and gloom of the financial media. Stop watching commercials that convince you to buy what you don’t need. Instead, begin listening to trusted teachers like Bill Winston and Dave Ramsey, who will teach you how to manage your money biblically.

The Lord Will Help Your Finances as You Create a Plan

Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Create a vision of living debt free and a plan for how to achieve it. Create a budget and a debt repayment schedule. List every debt that you owe in a spreadsheet like the Debt Reduction Snowball Calculator. This spreadsheet will allow you to list your debts in order from smallest to largest as well as a payment schedule. Two apps that will help you do the same are Debt Free Box and Debt Free.

The Lord Will Help Your Finances as You Give

Malachi 3:10 says, “‘Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,’ says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, ‘I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!'” Commit to giving 10% of your gross income to your local church or a ministry that feeds you. Give consistently and with a happy attitude as God promises to bless your efforts (2 Corinthians 9:7).

The Lord Will Help Your Finances as You Tackle Your Debt

Galatians 6:9 says, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Begin putting your debt snowball into practice. Pay each bill on time and put extra money (no matter how little) toward your smallest debt. Once that debt is paid off, take your first bill’s payment and apply it to the second smallest debt. As you continue to do this, the amount you put toward debt will grow, and you will make progress.

The Lord Will Help Your Finances as You Speak to Your Debt

Mark 11:23 says, “I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.” Debt is a mountain in your life. Begin to speak to it and get rid of it. Each time you receive a bill, hold it up and say, “Thank you, Jesus, this mountain is paid off!”

God wants to help you with your finances. He’s on your side! Put these steps into practice and trust that God will bless your efforts. Remember, He wants you financially free to do all He’s called you to do!

Everyone experiences challenging days from time to time. You get a flat tire. Your boss is in a bad mood. You sit in traffic so long that you miss an appointment. When you’re having a bad day, it helps to be reminded that God is on your side and that you are one of God’s beloved kids. That’s right, your Dad thinks you’re special!

So if you’ve had a bad day today, sit back and let these scriptures remind you of just what your Heavenly Father promises you.

Deuteronomy 31:6: So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.
Psalm 55:22: Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
Zephaniah 3:17: For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
1 John 5:4: For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.
Romans 8:37-39: In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Don’t let a bad day distract you from God’s blessings. You are loved. You are not alone. God delights in you. You are victorious. In fact, you are more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. So be encouraged and have a good day!

So often, people find themselves in dire financial situations, and they want a quick way to earn money. They’ve lost their jobs, become delinquent on their mortgages and car payments, and can’t figure out how God can get money to them.

“Well, I’ve prayed about my finances,” they sometimes say. “I’ve asked God for the finances I need, but I haven’t really heard anything. So I’m not sure it’s God’s will for me to have them.”

That’s a sad–and misguided–way to live. Let’s look at three ways you can change the way you approach your money.

#1 Know What God Says About You and Money

Get out your Bible and read scriptures like Psalm 113:7-8. It says God “lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, even the princes of his own people!” Think about that. According to the Bible, God takes His people from the dump to the boardroom!

When you were dead in your sins and trespasses, He raised you up together and made you sit together with Christ Jesus in heavenly places. Talk about being promoted! You’ve already made it to the top!

#2 Listen to What God Says About You and Your Money

Jesus went to the cross so you could get out of the garbage dump. He didn’t want you to have to go around with your hat in your hand looking to humans for a bailout or a handout. No, sir! You are a joint heir with Christ Jesus. You are a child of the living God. You’re supposed to be prosperous.

But to have ears to hear what Jesus is saying to you about how to walk in that prosperity, you have to get your mind out of the garbage dump. You have to quit thinking lack and measuring with a poverty stick. Instead, you have to read, meditate on and proclaim what God’s Word says.

#3 Speak What God Says About Your and Your Money

A Partner with this ministry wrote in to tell us that he had been able to pay off all his debts except what he owed on his farm. He wanted to be completely debt free but the amount seemed overwhelming. He kept meditating on the Word until he finally heard what God was saying to him. He got so thrilled, he ran into the house and said to his wife, “Praise God, we’re going to pay off this farm! God just got through to me. If you can pay off a charge card, you can pay off a farm! If you can pay off a car, you can pay off anything!”

The Lord will talk to you just like He did that farmer. It doesn’t matter what problem you may be facing, He has a plan to solve it. So just inquire of Him and say, “Lord, there is a mountain here in my life. I see in Your Word that I’m supposed to have victory over it. I see in Mark 11:23 that I can speak to it by faith and it will be removed. So I’m asking You to give me wisdom. Show me what You would have me say and what You would have me do. I have ears to hear.”

So often people need a quick answer from God about money, but the root of the issue goes so much deeper. Begin understanding how God views money in relation to His people. Then see how that view applies to you and your situation. God doesn’t want you in the garbage dump. Jesus died to raise you up and He has provided the way for you to be free from debt and financial hardship!

If you’ve been at it very long, you’ve already figured out that living by faith isn’t always easy. To believe and act on God’s Word so that you can attack your credit card debt, pay off your bills and become debt free, you have to go against the grain of the whole world around you.

You have to be tough.

Here are four strategies for living the debt-free life, and no matter where you are on your journey, you can live by them and experience financial freedom.

Proclaim That You Are Free From Credit-Card Debt

Every debt–especially credit-card debt–is a mountain in your life that needs to be removed (Mark 11:22-24). Romans 13:8 says, “Owe nothing to anyone–except for your obligation to love one another.”  Clearly, debt is not from God. So if debt is a mountain, then it’s time to speak to it and get it out of your life. Begin speaking to your credit-card debt. Each time you receive a statement, hold it up and say, “Thank You, Jesus, this mountain is paid off!”

Stir Up Your Faith Against Your Credit-Card Debt

You are in a battle for your spiritual and financial freedom. You will not win without a fight, but there are times when you need continued strength to keep fighting “the good fight of faith” (1 Timothy 6:12). You have to keep your mind and your spirit strong. How do you do that? By hearing the Word. Turn off your TV and radio, put down the newspapers and magazines that want to teach you how to “manage” your debt and start listening to spirit-filled ministers like Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Bill Winston, Jerry Savelle and others. Stir up your faith so that you are ready to stand strong for the battle.

Understand Your Battle Against Your Credit-Card Debt

So often people look at their debt as one, big lump sum when, in fact, they have multiple credit cards. Instead of focusing on the big sum, break it down. Write down a list of how much you owe on each card. Include each monthly payment and expected end date. Understand, this is just a natural schedule, and God wants to do supernatural miracles in your finances. But you need to understand where your debt is right now and understand how you are going to start your battle against it.

Focus on Your Smallest Credit-Card Debt First

As you stand in faith for your finances and pay each payment on time, begin putting extra money (no matter how little) toward your smallest credit-card debt. Once your first bill is paid off, then move to the next, putting all the money from the first bill toward the second. As you understand the battle and begin diligently working to pay off each debt in order, God will reward your diligence (Proverbs 10:4).

Determine to Rid Yourself of Credit-Card Debt Forever

Once you begin to stir up your faith against your credit-card debt, don’t ever again make the mistake of using those cards to finance your life. Get into the Word about your finances, take classes from trusted, Christian financial leaders and get rid of the credit cards that are tempting you. When you finally get free from credit-card debt, determine never to tolerate it again.

God wants you free from credit-card debt. He’s on your side! As you commit to stir your faith against your debt, then understand and attack that debt with the Word, you’ll receive a reward–freedom! Then determine to never let credit-card debt control you again. Now get busy; you’ve got a mountain to attack!

Here are eight steps to follow to get out of trouble, as outlined in Psalm 34.

1. Pray (verse 4).

Psalm 34:4 begins, “I sought the Lord….” Your part is to pray and invite Him into your life. Be assured–He will hear you (1 John 5:14).

2. Trust God (verse 8).

“Blessed is the man who trusts in Him.” Put the whole balance of your life, your security, in the Lord. Rely on the character, strength and ability of God to deliver you. Fear and unbelief, which are a lack of trust in God, will hinder or stop you from receiving God’s help.

3. Fear the Lord (verse 9).

This does not mean to be afraid of Him, but to give Him honor and respect. Take whatever you find in the Word, knowing it is true, and put it into your life. When God speaks, quickly make changes or adjustments.

4. Seek the Lord with all your heart (verse 10).

The primary way you seek the Lord is through His Word. Listen to His promptings when He speaks to your spirit. The counsel of God will deliver you out of trouble. God will protect you, keeping you safe from injury, harm and destruction. He will preserve you by instructing and teaching you, but you must make the effort to listen and learn. Trusting Him allows His mercy to surround you.

5. Don’t criticize and judge others (verse 13).

There are two times to pray for a person–when he’s right and when he’s wrong. It is the Lord’s job, not yours, to “bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and…make manifest the counsels of the hearts” (1 Corinthians 4:5). Your part is to “keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit” (Psalm 34:13).

6. Depart from evil (verse 14).

Psalm 34:14 says, “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.” Consider yourself dead to sin and alive to God. When sin calls your name, don’t respond to it. When God calls your name, be quick to respond.

7. Determine to do good (verse 14).

Be like Jesus, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38). Be busy doing good, praying and ministering to others.

8. Seek peace (verse 14).

Don’t be the one who brings discord, quarreling, fighting and strife. Instead, be the one who brings peace, calmness and harmony.

God’s power and deliverance are available for you, but they are not automatic. Receiving your deliverance is controlled by how you see God, how you listen to Him and how you obey Him. Come to a new place of faith, trusting God even when His wise counsel may appear to be foolishness. He is far smarter than you are. When you seek God, trust Him, hear His counsel and do what He tells you, He will bring you out of trouble, because there is nothing He doesn’t know how to handle.
