Hebrews 10:38 (KJV) says, “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”

The Bible is clear that believers are to live by faith. Like many people, you may wonder where faith comes from. Some people may believe that faith comes from tragic experiences in life or it comes from some desperate hope not based in reality, but that’s not what the Bible says.

In short, the Bible says faith comes from the Word of God planted in your heart. Here are a few key verses that tell us what faith is and where faith comes from:

  • Jesus is the author of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
  • Faith is the substance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1).
  • Faith comes from hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

Brother Copeland says it this way, “Faith is a heavenly substance that comes from God.”

And when you hear the good news about Jesus from the Word of God, faith comes into your heart. Faith never changes, and it always comes when you hear the Word! All you have to do is put the Word in your heart, and allow the faith words of God to download His faith into your heart. His words are the containers of faith!

Your faith comes from God through His Word, through the blood of Jesus. This is the same place your healing, your breakthrough and your deliverance come from. Glory to God!
