Q: How do you deal with sin?

A:

In dealing with sin, you must realize that man is a spirit. He lives in a body and he has a soul. When a person is born again, he receives a new spirit and he is freed from the power of sin. The authority of sin is broken. However, the soul still needs to be renewed to the Word of God or it will continue to express the nature of the flesh’s carnal desires. Romans 12:2 says, “...be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

The Bible says the Word of God is a sword that divides and separates between the soul and the spirit (Hebrews 4:12). It will expose all fleshly expression of sin in the soul. Once it is exposed, we deal with sin as a matter of choice. It is our decision whether or not we yield ourselves to it.
